NIKA is hiring for a Pipefitter for a base operations support services contract at the US Coast Guard Base in Kodiak, AK!

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems
Cut pipe, using saws, pipe cutter, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine
Thread pipe, using pipe threading machine
Bend pipe, using pipe bending tools and pipe bending machine
Assemble and install variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic
Connect pipes, using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints
Secure pipe to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers
Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment, such as pumps and cylinders
Increase pressure in pipe system and observe connected pressure gauge to test system for leaks
May weld pipe supports onto structural steel members
Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications
Licensed Journeyman Pipefitter
3 + years in the plumbing/pipefitting trades
Experience maintaining, repairing, installing and operating plumbing systems, to include pipes, traps, plumbing fixtures, back flow prevention systems, water and drain lines, pressure vessels and control systems
Valid driver’s license
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking
Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping
Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces
May spend long hours outside and in awkward positions which can cause physical discomfort and strain
Lifting and adjusting heavy objects, contact with sharp, hot and/or very cold supplies and equipment
Work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (some extreme) and weather conditions
